I love a good smoothie... because it's one of the simplest ways to support my healthy living goals by supplying all sorts of nutrients, one tasty sip at a time.
And if one of your health goals includes eating better, smoothies may be your new best friend. The truth is most of us don't have time to sit down and eat a plate full of fruits, vegetables, proteins, complex carbs, and healthy fats at each and every meal. I mean that's a lot of prep!
But with a smoothie, you just throw it all in the blender and sip, reaping all the awesome benefits!
Whether you need a simple solution on busy mornings, know you need to sneak in more greens, or are looking for a quick grab-and-go to help support your nutrition goals, this simple smoothie is a game changer!
This Green Power Smoothie is one of my favorites, delivering all sorts of essential vitamins and minerals in every tasty sip.
Ingredients
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 C fresh organic baby spinach
1/2 apple (use granny smith for added tartness!)
1/2 pear
1 banana
1 slice fresh ginger (or 1/4 - 1/2 tsp. ground)
1 tsp. flax oil (or ground flax seed)
1/2 C unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or milk of choice)
Ice to thickness
A few smoothie tips:
Did you know you can freeze those overripe bananas to use later? When you start to see your bananas start to go a little too brown simply peel and place them in a large ziplock bag and put them in the freezer to use later! They work great for those “oops I am out of bananas!” moments and the versatility of having them on hand will come in quite handy for other recipes too (a clean eats soft serve anyone?)
If increasing the amount of frozen ingredients (berries and banana for example) then you will also need to increase the amount of almond milk (or add a bit of water) to your mix as this will better help you blend your smoothie to drinkable consistency.
Drink and Enjoy!
